The Reigning Champion of Solar

More than a decade ago a CEO’s of a Chinese solar manufacturer told said that “China has no choice but to dominate solar.”  It didn’t really make much sense then as the Germans had the technology and were in control of the market. Sadly for Q-Cells and the other German manufacturers they never took control of the manufacturing intellectual property and as a result their equipment providers (Centrotherm, Roth & Rau and Meyer Burger) took the technology to China and built Chinese factories. And it is not a surprise that the only Western manufacturers that are still today successful are Sunpower and FirstSolar both of which controlled their production know-how.

The year is 2015 and global silicon, wafer, cell and module manufacturing and increasingly inverter manufacturing is all dominated by Chinese manufacturers such as GCL Poly, Trina Solar, Yingli, Samil Power. And they have all done something that no other Chinese companies or industry have done and that is to create international brand names. Yingli and Trina Solar have both sponsored the football world cup and are known across the globe. And it’s all good for solar. Without the Chinese and the massive competition they have created in the solar market we would not have had the 80% reduction in module costs in the last decade.

China is also the biggest market for solar installing a massive 10.5GW last year but it is still does not have the largest installation base for solar. That accolade still rests with Germany which had 36.8GW of installed solar capacity at the end of 2014 as opposed to China with 29.6GW. This however will change following China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) announcement this week of their goal to install 17.8GW of solar this year. This would give China an installed base of 47.4GW making them solar king in every way.

And thanks to the growth in China this year global solar installations are likely to hit 55GW this year which will put it ahead of wind, coal, gas, oil and nuclear in terms of new power generation installations. Meanwhile back in Europe and the US companies like GE, Alstom and Siemens who have dominated power generation for a hundred year have still no clear strategy for solar.

As to China they were right to focus on dominating solar. Not only is it good for the Chinese economy, it is good for the environment and thanks to solar millions of people across the world who do not have access to electricity will get it. As to Germany they may not dominate the solar industry anymore but they still have world class businesses such as SMA Solar, Wacker Chemie, Von Ardenne,  and research institutes such as the Fraunhofer.

10 Reasons to Install Solar Panels in Your Home

1. Green – Solar is green. Green is the new black. Enough said.

2. Renewable – Solar is a renewable energy source. The sun is always present and even the cloudiest days have some sun power available for the solar panels to soak up.

3. Available Anywhere – Solar can be installed anywhere, even when what it is powering is in the shade. No matter what the circumstance, if there is a sunny spot nearby the solar can be installed to power something remotely installed.

4. Durable – A typical solar system has a lifetime of over thirty years. So when you install your solar panels the fear of durability should not be entertain because it comes with a guarantee.

5. Eco-Friendly – No harmful gases come from a solar panel.

6. Cost Savings – Solar provides cost savings by not having to pay for electricity.

7. Easy Installation – Solar panels are easy to install, typically only needing a few bolts to hold them secure and some basic wiring.

8. Low Voltage – Solar utilizes lower voltage, typically 12 Volts DC, which means safer usage and installation.

9. Energy Savings – Solar utilizes lower powered items such as LED / CFL lamps, lower powered electronics, etc. that do not use as much power as standard electric systems.

10. Battery Backup – Most solar systems today utilize a battery backup that allows for three plus days storage of the power needed to keep the system running (depending on the size of your battery bank). That way, if the sun goes out, you will still have power for a couple days.

Why choose solar energy for your home?

Every Nigeria that owns a 5kva power generating set understands the cost and stress involved in powering our homes. It’ll cost at least two thousand five hundred naira (=N=2,500) daily to fuel alone. The cost for a month will come to 75,000 and at the end of twelve months it’ll cost a whooping nine hundred thousand naira (=N=900,000) to run your generator set.

Having an inverter does not provide the end solution to the epileptic power supply in Nigeria because the inverter requires a power source that is regular to charge the batteries. Inverters in Nigeria would not work where you don’t have regular supply of power. For you to charge your inverter with generator, you’ll need at least a full day charging to get optimal power bank for your batteries.

That is just what solar energy does for you. It’s free, dependable, reliable, has zero maintenance plus it’s entirely yours. And has a guaranteed life span of over 30 years. So once installed has little or no maintenance.

50% Down Payment and it’s yours
It’s as simple as that. You can be on your way to going solar by making a 50% down payment and your home will be powered fully by solar. We offer you a very flexible payment plan of four installments so as to ease the burden of paying once.
